He is a very caring & compassionate person. He has gotten teary-eyed a few times when he talks about me & how much I've been through & how strong I am. He got a little teary-eyed when I gave him a copy of this picture. He said he has to take off a day every once in a while to distance himself from his patients. Well, all of his patients have cancer, so I'm sure it's not easy! But, he copes pretty well!! Plus, he is very knowledgeable!! So, now you know a little bit about my Dr., & why I like him so much!
Love,
Shirley

My Dearest Friend Shirley,
I want to tell you what our friendship means to me. Having been friends for 59 years, we have many memories. I have to sort through & talk about some our times together. When the 4 of us (Leila, Marabel, you & I) were together we had great fun. We did so many things together. Remember Dickie Boys & we always ordered a cherry coke & their Cherry type cobbler, Yum! We went to our school football games, go Lions! I never did really know the game well & still don’t, but we had fun.
I know we spent many night together, birthday parties, & if we ever had a problem, we talked it out & didn’t stay mad any more.
You were like the sister I never had & I treasure our single years together & then when we both were married, the friendship the 4 of us had. Judy was a few months old when you & Warren were married. When you moved into your 1st apartment in Monterey Park, you invited us over on Saturday night. That afternoon it began to rain, really hard. Joe said we couldn’t go because the weather was too bad & we had to take the playpen for Judy, etc., & I told him that they didn’t have a phone & it wouldn’t be right to just not show. So we packed up the car & Judy and made it to your apt. You had made your famous Pineapple Upside-Down Cake & didn’t bake it long enough & you were so disappointed, but the guys loved it!!! We had such a good time that night & didn’t go home until 4 A.M. We even made it to church the next day.
For several years we used to get together on Fri. or Sat. night, have A&W Root Beer Floats & play Pinochle. You & I were always partners & lost most of the time, but it was such fun. I remember putting the girls to bed & playing cards, we switched houses & sometimes we had dinner together.
I loved going to your house & having you at ours. Those were the good old days. We have so many memories to look back on, I wouldn’t trade the time together for anything.
I guess I’d better close for now I see if I can post it on your Blog.
We’ll be friends forever.
I love you & Warren like we’re really sisters & he by brother. If I could have had a sister & brother I would of wished for you & Warren to be my family.
Take good care of yourself,
Hugs & Love, Pat
